A cyclist has died following a collision involving a car near Langford.

The 26-year-old female cyclist died at the scene in Edworth Road yesterday (Sunday, April 22).

The collision happened at 10.45am and also involved a red Rover MG ZR car. The driver, a 29-year-old man, was not injured.

Officers from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Andy Ralph, leading the investigation, said he is keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision but has not yet contacted the police.

PC Ralph said: “The cyclist was with other members of a cycling club when the collision happened and although a number of people did stop and are already helping with this investigation, I would ask anyone else who witnessed the collision to also speak to the police.”

The identity of the cyclist will be announced once the coroner has opened an inquest.

Any witnesses can contact PC Ralph at the Beds and Herts collision investigation unit on 01438 757500, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011

Really awful news. Condolences to the friends & families. Being a Bedford cyclist and cycling commuter I want to know more about the events on how this happened. Being that she was with a "group" of cyclists, one does question if driver frustration/ impatience played a part. "talking from experience of cycling in groups"
