Police call for witnesses after man dies in Letchworth

 
PPoliceOLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after a man sadly died in Letchworth this week (Tuesday, March 9).

The man, who is 51 years old and from Letchworth, was found by a member of the public at approximately 3am in Birds Hill near to the junction with Rushby Mead. However it is believed he may have been there for several hours.

Officers are not treating his death as suspicious but are keen to trace his last steps and are asking for anyone who may have seen him in the area during the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact them.

The man is described as white with short greying hair. He was wearing a purple polo top, blue jacket, blue corduroy trousers and white trainers. He may also have been wearing a black woollen hat.

PC Rachel Wells-Burr said: “We’re looking into the circumstances of the man’s death and our initial enquiries lead us to believe it was not suspicious.

“However, we are keen to trace his last movements and believe he may have collapsed in that location at around midnight. Therefore I would like to speak with anyone who may have seen him in the area around that time to contact police via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.”
