A STEVENAGE football club is getting a helping hand with its running costs from a local county councillor.
Cllr Matthew Hurst (Broadwater) has allocated Stevenage Borough Ladies FC £600 from his locality budget to help the club cover increasing annual costs involved in running the team.
The club has more than 30 members, aged 16 and over.
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
Cllr Hurst said: "Local sports clubs like this one do a lot for their community by creating more opportunities for people to take part in games and training, which in turn helps to promote health, fitness and a more active lifestyle.
"With many of the members still in full-time education, it is important that subscriptions are kept at an affordable level, but at the same time the club still needs to meet increased running costs - so I am happy to help them out."
