Stevenage Library receives grant for family events

NEWLY-refurbished Stevenage Library has received £500 for events to help encourage families and children to discover what it has to offer.

Cllr Matthew Hurst (Broadwater) has awarded the library the grant from his locality budget to help pay for promotional and fun activities geared up for local children, their parents and schools.

Cllr Hurst said: "Local libraries are doing a wonderful job in engaging families through special events designed to keep children entertained and to develop their interest in reading and learning at the same time.

"I attended a family fun day at the library in March, which was very well attended and much appreciated by local families, so it would be good to build on that with more activities and events to encourage people to come along and see what the library has to offer, now that it has reopened after the refurbishment work."
