Pro Evolution Soccer 2012

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012After the exemplary FIFA 12, surely any other football game has been kicked into touch?

Well, not quite. Although many Pro Evo devotees have slowly been converted by EA’s increasingly impressive FIFA releases, there is enough merit in this latest release to tempt a few not to switch changing rooms just yet.

There are some terrific stadiums and good player likenesses but the real appeal of this title is the speed of the arcade-style gameplay.

Dribbling, daring wing play and goalmouth scrambles make for an exciting game, if not the amazingly realistic recreation of the sport achieved by FIFA.

There’s a new level of teammate control available to you, via the right stick, which is a worthwhile improvement.

Inevitably, Pro Evo is best played in multiplayer, with local multiplayer being our favourite, although there are plenty of online options available.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012If you want a real challenge, there’s a master league, with management and transfers, a new contract feature and fitness elements.

Overall, this Pro Evo is a great effort and suffers only because FIFA 12 is so good.
